Hi Santee Court!

Just a reminder that our new proposed local watering hole at 656 S. Main needs our support.  It’s already been protested by the United Coalition East Prevention Project (UCEPP) and they’re a nightmare with delaying, or even preventing new bars and restaurants downtown. If you just mail in a letter with the template attached it makes a big difference.  Their public hearing is on August 25th.  Thanks everybody.

You may have noticed receiving a “Notice of Public Hearing” in your mail in last few days from the City of Los Angeles.  This Notice is for a new Bar/Lounge located at 656 S. Main St. at the former “Crabby Joe’s” site just around the corner from us.  It has it’s Public Hearing at City Hall on Tuesday, August 25th, at 9:00 a.m. in Room 1020 on the 10th floor.

There is a significant and growing movement against the establishment of more restaurants and bars serving alcohol downtown because of the belief of “over-saturation”.  Us residents who live downtown, know that this is not the case.  And contrary to what many may think, statistics show that creating a vibrant street life with restaurants, bars, and even nightclubs, actually deters crime by keeping the street light, bright and active, with security present many times.  Most people keep there “over-saturation” understanding based upon the suburban sprawl model, and not the dense urban neighborhoods where we like to call home.
